Optomap

Did you know that your retina is the only place in the body where blood vessels can be seen directly? In addition to eye conditions, detection of other diseases including hypertension, diabetes, heart disease or stroke can also be seen in the retina. The optomap image helps provide early detection more effectively and efficiently than traditional eye exams, often prior to any symptoms.

Optomap ultra widefield ophthalmoscopy is a retina imaging system that can reveal over 85% of the retina in one view and can often eliminate the need to dilate the eyes for routine eye exams. Our Optomap technology includes the most advance function in any retina imaging system called Fundus Autofluoresence, or FAF. FAF can provide an image of the “chemical” functioning of retina tissue that is otherwise invisible with any other imaging techniques or systems. FAF can “see” the activity of unusual retina lesions such as suspect neoplasms (tumors), hereditary conditions in the very early stages such as retinitis pigmentosa, and areas of retina tissue that is simply not functional.
